WiFi, a widely used technology in wireless communication, is a local area network that uses high frequency radio signals to transmit and receive data over distances of a few hundred feet. WiFi is quicker than the conventional modem for accessing information over a large network. Using different amplifiers, the users can easily change their location without any disruption in the network access. The location where the users can connect to the network is called a WiFi hotspot. There are different WiFi software tools available in the market. They are specifically designed for different types of networks and operating systems. Some of them are Aircrack-ng, NetStumbler, OmniPeek, Stumbverter, WiFi Hopper, and APTools.

Wi-Fi uses radio frequency waves to transmit data between its nodes. These frequency waves are transmitted in the radio bands of 2.4GHz to 5GHz spectrum that are similar to television signal transmission. It offers a safe and consistent connectivity. It is proved that 802.11g is a better technology that provides a comprehensive platform for operating Bluetooth strategy, cellular phones, and other scientific equipments. Furthermore, it also provides excellent streaming quality of video, audio and voice channels.

The developments in communication technology have brought in security threats. There are many security options available. One of the popular ways is to use the Wired Equivalency Privacy (WEP) security standard. Another option is Media Access Control (MAC) address filtering that requires each computer to manually register to have access to the network. But these options have decreased the overall useability of the network and moreover, they can be faked by a hacker with enough time, knowledge, and network access.
